The transparently transformed Tunku Aziz — Jaleel Hameed
May 18, 2012
MAY 18 — In the past week, Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim has repudiated the party that he said he had observed for two decades, joined for almost four years, and is now championing the Najib administration.
Kudos, sir. You’ve been transformed and in quite a transparent manner, if I might say so.
You, sir, had championed transparency, spoke out against graft, and now you speak well of the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.
The government that used the state apparatus such as the police and City Hall to shut down Kuala Lumpur during Bersih 2.0, where people hiding in a hospital were smoked out with teargas.
The same government whose police allegedly assaulted people during Bersih 3.0 — the sit-in that apparently had no traction.
The government that turned a blind eye to electoral fraud, encourages right wing politics, completely controls all of the country’s institutions, in which there is still widespread and growing corruption.
The government that ignores the right of the others to call God by whatever name they choose, even if it is the same name as their God. Are the Christians children of a lesser god, sir?
The government that tried its utmost to protect the National Feedlot Corporation, where, instead of protecting whistleblowers, it allowed the NFC to conduct its own witch hunt.
Are you the man of principle that Lim Kit Siang praised days ago?
Aren’t you the man who broke party discipline and didn’t respect a simple concept called party consensus?
Aren’t you the man who attacked the DAP for belittling you in public?
All these years, you have been a proper gentleman that even Lim Kit Siang still insists you are a man of principle.
But did you respect party process and decorum? Yes sir, of course, freedom of speech and expression.
Wasn’t that what the Bersih chaps were doing? Yes, sir, do speak out against violence and those who fail to see what the government has been doing.
But have you seen all that this government has been doing?
I’ll let you rest now, sir. You have fought for all that is good for so long. This country has been transformed. And so have you.
Go take a long rest, shut off your telephone and spend time breeding ornamental fish, as Bernama reported today.
That would be the only fishy thing for you to do. Good night, sir.
